Application Timeline

It's Never too Early to Get Started!

If you have chosen your Professional Pathway, it is important to get a head start on the Application Process. This includes ensuring that you are meeting with your Academic Advisor on a regular basis and enrolling in your prerequisites in a timely manner. Below you will find a Suggested Advising Calendar to help you with this process.

Suggested Advising Calendar

First Year


First Semester

  1. Meet with your academic advisor to get to know your academic discipline.
  2. Look at suggested web resources for your area(s) of interest.
  3. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor prior to Advising Day.
  4. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  5. Consider special programs listed above, if you are eligible.
  6. Consider joining the Health Professions Club.
  7. See Dr. McCormick if you are interested in joint admission programs.
  8. Research and apply to summer programs.

Second Semester

  1. Apply to summer programs.
  2. Continue to use suggested web resources for your area(s) of interest.
  3. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor prior to Advising Day if needed or if you have never met with one of us.
  4. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  5. Begin application to 3+4 or JAMP listed above, if you are eligible and interested.
  6. Consider joining the Health Professions Club.
  7. Plan how you will gain or continue to gain exposure to your chosen field.

Second Year


First Semester

  1. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor prior to Advising Day if needed or if you have never met with one of us.
  2. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  3. Consider joining the Health Professions Club.
  4. Plan how you will gain or continue to gain exposure to your chosen field.
  5. Research and apply to summer programs.
  6. Begin application to EMSSP, Boston College of Medicine.

Second Semester

  1. Submit application to EMSSP, Boston College School of Medicine if you are eligible and interested.
  2. Apply to summer programs.
  3. Continue to use suggested web resources for your area(s) of interest.
  4. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor prior to Advising Day if needed or if you have never met with one of us.
  5. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  6. Consider joining the Health Professions Club.
  7. Plan how you will gain or continue to gain exposure to your chosen field.

Third Year


First Semester or Application Year

  1. Research summer programs.
  2. Understand the admission process for your field including the application timeline.
  3. Decide when you will take your admission test.
  4. Research test preparation courses.
  5. Consider enrolling in a test preparation course.
  6. Continue to use suggested web resources for your area(s) of interest.
  7. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor for an updated pre-professional interview.
  8. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  9. Consider joining the Health Professions Club.
  10. Plan how you will gain or continue to gain exposure to your chosen field.

Second Semester or Application Year and following Summer

  1. Apply to summer programs.
  2. Enroll in a test preparation course.
  3. Schedule a test date.
  4. Continue to use suggested web resources for your area(s) of interest.
  5. Schedule an appointment with the Health Professions Advisor to begin your application folder, ask application questions, coordinate letters of reference and get help with personal statements.
  6. Meet with your academic advisor on or before advising day.
  7. Begin and/or complete your application (depending on deadlines)

Fourth Year (if this is your year of application, follow the plan for third year)


  1. Complete your application depending on deadline
  2. Interviews begin now. See the Health Professions advisor for interview procedures and mock interviews.
  3. Apply for graduation
  4. See your academic advisor
  5. Graduate!
