Partner Acquisition
The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) ensures that each sister school partner is of the same high quality caliber as UIW by implementing several key administrative and academic steps.
Partner acquisitions take time to develop as several steps and protocol are implemented before both institutions sign the Sister School Partnership Agreement. First, the International Affairs Office implements research regarding the potential partner’s academic and administrative capabilities. Second, key administrators in the International Affairs Office visit partner schools in order to ensure the facilities are of the same standards as those found at UIW. Appointed faculty, with international experience, may also be asked to visit the potential partner, especially if a specific academic program is of interest to both parties. Third, courses are evaluated to ensure the same level of academic integrity is being implemented. Lastly, once the agreement is signed and the exchange of students occurred, the Study Abroad Office implements an exit survey, which helps both institutions address any issues and offer an opportunity to improve the study abroad process and experience.
