Health Services

The University of the Incarnate Word University Police Department is the designated first responder to emergency and medical situations.

The Primary Care Clinic provides health services that focus on primary prevention care, health education and counseling, care for illnesses and injuries, the maintenance of health records and assistance with the university insurance plan.

All members of the UIW community are encouraged to take responsibility for their body, mind, and spirit. The community is challenged to examine their own personal wellness plan. Support is given for changes resulting in continued improvement and growth. The smoking cessation program is available to the UIW community.

Privacy Notice: We value the privacy of all members of the community. We will not disclose a patient's care outside of this office without their permission.

Cost: Co-payment or appropriate fee is due at time of visit and is based on the insurance carried by the patient.

  • Blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol screenings
  • Smoking cessation program
  • Referrals to physicians, community agencies and campus resources
  • Health promotion, education, and counseling
  • Assistance with student accident and illness insurance
  • Health promotion, education, counseling and psychiatrist services

We Offer

  • Selected immunizations (Influenza, Td, TdaP, Hep B, and Meningitis)
  • Gardasil injections
  • Physical exams (by appointment only, call 210-829-6017)
  • TB skin tests (Mon-Wed from 8 a.m.-p.m.)
  • Over-the-counter (OTC) medications
  • Prescriptions for medications when medically indicated
  • Quest Diagnostics and LabCorpTiter lab request forms

Title IX

Report sexual misconduct including sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, stalking and relationship violence through the Title IX website.

Monday, Tuesday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wednesday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

We are located on the ground level of the Agnese/Sosa parking garage. The entrance to our facility is behind the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions; there is a red awning over the entrance.
