UIW Student Handbook and Student Conduct Procedures
Student Handbook
The University seeks to balance rules that are necessary to function effectively in an educational community with each individual's rights to personal freedom. Community regulations are designed to guide the growth and development of individual responsibility, academic and personal integrity, and respectful interaction. The UIW Student Handbook contains many of the policies that govern student life here at UIW.
The Student Code of Conduct is one section of the UIW Student Handbook that all students are strongly encouraged to read on an annual basis, as all students are responsible for abiding by the policies listed therein.
Student Conduct Procedures
The Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is designated to promote and administer the standards of conduct as reflected in the UIW Student Handbook and other University policies and guidelines. In order to assist students in understanding the student conduct process, these documents have been created to provide information about student rights and expectations in the conduct process, as well as details about the steps in the conduct process.
Drug Free Schools and Communities: Alcohol and Other Drug Information
As a recipient of federal funding, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is required to comply with the regulations set forth in the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (EDGAR 86). As the University tenants of education and truth suggest, UIW is committed to continuously providing our students with up-to-date and comprehensive information. The document below is a compilation of Texas state laws, health information, and University student policies and services pertaining to alcohol and other drug use. It is important that all students review and understand this information as they proceed through academic careers at UIW.
